Click.....should have been Jim

Postby trishroberts » Thu Oct 26, 2006 8:10 pm

I saw 'Click' with Adam Sandler yesterday, I really enjoyed it but couldn't help wishing it would have been Jim leading it. The main reason for me thinking this (apart from that he is my hero) was that it was pretty much a remake of 'its a wonderful' but without the snow. I know Jimmy Stewart was Jim's hero and Its a wonderful life being one of his fave films..he would have been great in it...it was a real tear jerker...but with Jim I'm sure I would have been in floods not just itchy eyes.

i dunno if he would have meshed well with Kate Beckinsdale though..... ......she's almost too beautiful (if that's possible) it kinda makes her appear wooden and false somehow,........

I don't know, I think he would have went well with Kate. This reminded me a lot of Bruce though and he usually doesn't take things that are that similar to stuff he's already done. Click even had the same writers as Bruce. While I did enjoy Click a lot I liked Bruce better and I'm glad Jim was in that instead. Adam really impressed me in Click though. Yes, Jim could have been just as good and most likely better but I think Adam did a good job and I think it was one of his best movies, but my favorite is still Wedding Singer.

Yes I liked the Adam in Click too, I did think Jim could have done very well with the role as well, but I am an Adam fan too, so I was happy to see him in it. I loved the Wedding Singer and Spanglish is probably my personal favorite of Adam's.

I really do not like Adam Sandler, I cannot stand him, I only liked him in the wedding singer. Aside from that I do not think he is a very good actor, and I hate the fact that he is often compared to Jim. Click was an okay film, I did not enjoy it that much, but it was better than some of his. I could not help but see simularities between Click and Bruce Almighty though. Firstly the theme of control was very similar and also there was a sceen when Adam Sandler was in the car and he turns into the hulk or something and then he looks in the mirror, this is very similar to when Bruce pretends he is Clint Eastwood.

I agree. I kept thinking of Bruce Almighty all the time too.

Click: It's about a man who doesn't really like the way thing is. Then suddenly he gets the chance to change evertything, after he met Morty. Then he change things in his life that turned out to be good for him without actually thinking about the consequences. Then things goes bad and in the end he realise he should just be happy with the life he got and not just seek for the better.

Bruce Almighty is exactly the same that I described above, the only difference is that Michael met the angel of death and Bruce met God.

'Bruce Almighty' was a very play it safe comedy and so is 'Click'. Both of the stories both come down to the same thing, ultimate powers and the downside of those. So, it's very normal people think about 'Bruce' when they see 'Click'. And that scène, 'Hulk' is just what everyone would do if they had the chance. No, I'm not saying everybody wants to be green, lol, but wouldn't you try those things? I know I would.

I thought Click was, in the genre, a good movie. And I also think Adam Sandler is perfect for the role. I can see Jim in the role, that's the first thing that came up in my mind when I first saw the trailer months ago. But when I think of it, people wouldn't like it, I can hear it already. "It's half a comedy, half a drama, that sucks!" And in a way I'm glad Jim didn't do this. Because the sounds would be like "Hey, Jim Carrey can do better, it's too serieus in the end, thought this was a comedy".

I used to dislike Adam Sandler, but I have to face the facts... That was only because I liked Jim that much and I just couldn't stand it they compared Adam with my hero. Besides that, I learned to appreciate Sandler for what he does. I think he's not as funny as Jim Carrey, but is that a reason to dislike him? Nope.

I also think Adam Sandler IS a good actor! People weren't impressed by Jim Carrey either, until had made 'Truman' and 'Man on the Moon'. A lot of people thought 'Eternal' was the first right role for Jim. So, for those who saw 'Punch-Drunk Love', Sandler is amazing in it! It's the perfect film for him. And I think 'Click' was also a good fit. He delivered the comedic aspects AND did very well in the serious parts.

The not so good part of the film was the script, just like Bruce Almighty it wasn't that well written. One moment hilarious, other moment serious as hell. I want it more mixed.

How many years has Adam Sandler been in the movie business? Too many really, if he was a really good actor he would have been taken more seriously earlier. One thing I have to say is that he did deliever the comedic aspects quite well, better than I thought. I agree with you there grinchy steve!

I agree with ya Emzie. I don't like Adam Sandler very much either.
"The Wedding Singer" was the only one of his films that I liked as well.
IMO, nobody can compare to the talents of Mr. Jim Carrey.
Adam Sandler doesn't even come close.
