Seen any good films recently?

Postby fluffy » Sat Sep 12, 2015 10:24 pm

ok....it's been a while but I thought i'd post a new subject... :D

Saw 'Straight out of Compton'......a fantastic film, very violent and a bit hairy in bits but well worth a look. 9/10

'Amy'... the bio It's about Amy Winehouse and uses real video footage from her childhood all the way through to her tragic death.....absolutely tragic and very very sad but very sympathetically done. 10/10

'Going Clear' - about Scientology and basically its corruption and utter contempt for pretty much everyone.....lol 8/10

Agent 47.....basically just a shoot em up bloodbath......lol......6/10

Apologies if these films were out months ago in your country but sometimes we're a wee bit behind in Scotland....... :D

big hugs folks  :D :D :D

Sicario.......OMG it's creepy and dark....it's about the drug cartels in Mexico and the violence....the really scary bit is it's really happening there.......don't eat before you watch it unless you have a very strong stomach.......lol 7/10

The Martian- Matt Damon finds himself alone on Mars and fights to stay alive while a rescue mission is launched.
it's well worth a look........feels a little like 'Silent Running' but the science is not crazy complicated so it's ok to follow.......7/10 :D

Ok seen LOADS of movies over the past few weeks (gotta love the cineworld card)......
Can HIGHLY recommend -

The Lady in The Van- Stars Dame Maggie Smith and tells the true story of an elderly lady who lives in an old van in the driveway, of one of Britains most highly regarded playrights....it's true which makes it all the more remarkable. (Baftas await!)

Joy- Jennifer Lawrence stars..........about the inventor of the Miracle Mop, how it came about and her struggles to see it hit production......it was alright but that's about it...

The Revenant- Leonardo at his chilliest.......music was superb(Sakamoto, always awesome) and the cinematography albeit cliched was beautiful........The film itself was harrowing and dark and kinda chilly. It was very much a mix of 'Dances with Wolves' meets Gladiator.....The film was set in snowy mountains so you're gonna freeze.....dress warmly :D
Oh, and Leonardo was ok too......lol....(the Oscar beckons  ) Tom Hardy was equally good though....he's one to watch for, he's the new Oliver Reed  :D

Grimsby- Sasha Baron Cohen at his riskiest.........i won't say much about this one except the audience weren't sure whether to laugh or not. There's a lot of male genitals especially goolies ....you have been warned!

I haven't been inspired to go to the movies for ages. I was saying to my friend the other day, there is just a real lack of cool, unique and quirky films now.
The eighties and early nineties were just gold - but now? ... Meh. :|

Watched
one of my favorites
Cat Baloo with Jane Fonda , Lee Marvin
and the four guys
the whole group just fit so great together
Listened to the commentary
which is so funny
it was done
by the guys who played the preacher and
his nephew
would like to have heard from the Indian
character and Jane on this one too

Hail Ceasar........the film was Meh but Georges thighs are things to behold

Spotlight.....it got the Oscar and boy did it deserve it!........i can't praise this film enough.

london Has Fallen...........ok, it's a nightmarish film. Jihadists inflitrate the Met police, murder half of the worlds leaders then hunt down the US president in London. The president is not alone though, he has his security Studmuffin Gerald Butler with him to save the day. It's a very entertaining film  well worth a gander :D

I want to see London Has Fallen but I'm a bit scared, tbh. I get really anxious when I watch plausible disaster/apocalyptic movies.

Batman V Superman
I really wanted to like this one for all the wrong reasons  but it's REALLY bad....lol.....it's all special effects and a lousy storyline/script ( or 'furcoat and no knickers' as we say in the UK)....The editing was weird as it jumped around and the effects themselves were on the lousy side. However, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther had obviously been watching Jims Riddler because the influence was unmistakable. 2/5
