I don't know how long it was when he said that but remember he's been in 2 marriages that failed, an engagement with Renne that went sour, so I understand why he would say that.
But love makes us forget what we promised ourselves long ago, but for some, we still remember.

As long as he's happy. I'm full of respect for him for being so open to Evan and his problems. Lesser men would have bolted at the responsiility.

He's Autistic. Jenny has worked really hard to develop a therapeutic approach for Evan, which is great, but it is a lifelong condition and there will be massive hurdles ahead. I have nothing but respect for Jenny, Jim, John and Everyone involved. I work with Autisic kids so i have a little knowledge re the subject......
