Over the years Jim Carrey's name has been linked to many charities and fundraiser events and the Charity 'Milk + Bookies' is the latest to add to his list. As a member of the 'Honorary Committee' Jim has become involved with a charitable organization that inspires children to give back using books as its currency. The organization facilitates opportunities for children nationwide to raise book donations and give back by providing them with the tools to host small book-raising events.
One such event is to be held on Sunday March 20, 2011. The Charity has announced that they will host their Second Annual Story Time Celebration at the Skirball Cultural Centre in Los Angeles. Families will be able to enjoy their favourite childhood stories in the celebrity reading room, create story-inspired arts & crafts, photo flipbooks, eat cookies and drink milk. The reading room will feature supporters Jack Black, Julie Bowen, DJ Lance Rock, Maya Rudolph, Jonah Hill and Jeff Probst. There will be a giant "bookstore" where families can select books, inscribe them and donate them using 'Milk + Bookies' to distribute these books to children that do not have access to books of their own. Last year's celebration raised 3,000 books for Operation School Bell.
