(Re: Eternal S.) We Aussies are getting screwed by Roadshow

Originally the Eternal Sunshine DVD release date out here was meant to be August '04. That changed to September, October and finally December... at least for the rental version. The retail version was pushed back even further, to January '05, and then February '05. Within the last few weeks, however, the DVD vanished from many retail sites based in Australia -- completely off the "Coming Soon" radar -- and I wondered why. So I emailed Village Roadshow, the distributors.

Turns out the retail date has been pushed back AGAIN, to April '05. I take that with a bucketful of salt, since they've already changed the date on us more times than Michael Jackson has changed his face.

I have no idea why we're being treated like this, nor do I know who's making the decisions, but it's really grating my cheese. If you're curious for info, you could email Roadshow yourself: Customer_Service@roadshow.com.au Preferably in droves.

But DO IT POLITELY. The guy who replies to the emails is not the guy who makes the decisions. This is not his fault, and he won't want to receive 200 abusive emails over something he doesn't control. Just ask what's up, try to find out why it keeps getting pushed back, and how definite THIS date is. Let 'em know we're a little unhappy. But again... be polite. What? But I asked ezydvd and they said they'd release it on 16th of Feb!!

I went back many times to ask, once they said they didn't know the stupid release date, then they said it's march, and then they say 16th of Feb, which made me pretty happy. They better not be lying..... or else....

Is it the same for any other store? Ezydvd is like the really big in Australia... they CAN'T LIE TO ME!!!!

I don't think they lied. Roadshow are just being... y'know, dicks. And the stores are having trouble keeping up with the latest.

You ought to email the Roadshow guy (but be polite, cos it's not his fault), just to let them know how you feel and what you've been told by the shops. Same with any other Aussies reading this. If nothing else, maybe they'll explain why they keep pushing it back.

Yes...... I can't take it.... first they say there's no stock or something, uhh, busy season, Christmas and all, it really sucks........

I check ezydvd.com every now and then.... but they haven't put up anything about Eternal Sunshine.... I think I really do have to wait until April....
