Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine...Hi. I'm an A-level student from England doing a project on Eternal Sunshine...what do you think of his performance/character in this compared to his previous movies?
If u want me to send you a proper review of the film, let me know, and I will email it to you. I write a lot or reviews.
This isn't like anything he's done before I guess. Unlike Ace of course
He really poured his heart out in Eternal Sunshine. His character, Joel, made me feel so much. It's kind of hard for me to sum this up in words. But Jim's performance in this movie is just brilliant, to me. That shy smile he puts on and his frustration of losing Clem... everything All of Jim's other serious performances were also really really good. He's brilliant~!! If compared to other movies, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind really made me "feel"; and I'm pretty sure it has the power to move anyone else who watches it. It's his best work "I decided that I wanted to make movies that would uplift people." - Jim Carrey
*May contain Spoilers* I feel Eternal Sunshine is a film to make you think! Jim's character Joel Barish really shows the emotions you would have to go through if you ever erased your memory! ,and to show the ups and downs of a relationship is hard to act! I think Jim did a really good job and this is one of his best movies......so far!
LMC!
Absolutely the best film of Jim Carrey ever.
I empathized his pain and sorrow during film, I cried like Niagara when he started to sing " Row row row your boat" and then there´s that bike. When I knew that it had a connection to Jim´s childhood it made it feel so real. And really that shy smile he puts on... adorable. Also I wanted all the time jump to the screen and hug him hard. I love this film, I really do. Riddle me this...Riddle me that! Who's afraid of the big black bat?
i agree with everyone on that this was his best performance ever, and that it is an overall great movie....
I did something a little different and saw this movie in the theatre by myself. Sometimes you can get more out of a movie by seeing it alone. I thought the general plot was a bit strange and a little hard to follow, but it grew on me. I was really touched of the scene of Jim sobbing in his car. It reminded me of the moment in The Majestic (SPOILER COMING UP) when he was crying at that man's bedside as he was dying. Jim is a very talented actor in comedy as well as drama. It's really a shame that The Academy doesn't recognize him as an actor. I don't think he's ever been nominated for an Oscar as best actor, but he should've been for this movie. I'm glad he was nominated for a Golden Globe, though. I just rented this movie and watched all the extras, including the interview with Jim and the writer, as well as the deleted scenes (some of them should've been left in the movie, IMHO) as well as the director's commentary. Jim showed some really tender moments in the movie and made me just want to kiss him!
Always A Jim Carrey Fan!
i like all his characters, but this one stands out a bit. you can rele relate to him. you know how he feels. Anyone who has been in a relationship can feel his vibe.
