Jayne - my mom got Bell's palsy last year.

The year before she had a seizure in the middle of the night and my phone rang at 2am and it was my brother (with the paramedics at the house) saying, "What is it mom's allergic to?"

A year later she got the facial numbness and again my brother calls me to find out what she's allergic to.

I had a few heartpounding hours calling the ER in California until they ruled out a stroke.

She's fine now.

I did wish Cheryl a Happy Birthday in August. I don't think I'm dumber but dumbest.
Still struggling with this Bell's Palsy thing, since my daughter is in another city and has no doctor, she went to emergency when her face went knumb and she was diagnosed in emergency and advised she needs a doctor. Most are not taking new patients. Very frustrating.
The good thing is knowing there is the hope of a possible recovery.

I had bell's palsy. I woke up one morning and olny one side of my face would work! It scared me. Luckilly I recovered about 95% of the usage on that side of my face (after two months). Anyway, I may not have had it quite as severely, but I still know how it feels. I'm sorry. :(

I've been trying to talk to someone who's had it.

Did you have to take Mega pills too?
She has people making fun of her, did that happen to you too?
It's hard when you're young, people are unkind, she's very
sensitive!
I'm so glad that it is a recoverable condition.
What tests did you have to get.
She just had a blood test.

I just went to the doctor, and they did a blood test. It was Bells Palsy.
They didn't prescribe any medicine. They sayed that it might go away in a day or a week or a month or maybe never, so that scared me! But I was glad as I gradually recovered.

I had an extremely lop-sided smile. Luckily people didn't make fun of me, you couldn't really even tell, unless I tred to talk or smile or eat or drink something, then they could see that Only one side of my face was working. But I don't surround myself with people that would make fun of me, I have nice friends who encouraged me the whole time. Took me skating and out for pizza and everything! that was Sooooo nice of them. 8)
