Jeff Daniels hopeful about "Dumb and Dumber To"
26 Jun 2012

By Lucas Allen (Web correspondent)

Last week’s news was a huge shock in the Jim Carrey fan community when the actor recently dropped out of production of "Dumb and Dumber To" because of his frustration with the studio. The sequel to the 1994 blockbuster would have Jim reunite with the Farrelly brothers for a September filming start, and the film is scheduled for a 2013 release.

No one was more surprised than Jim’s co-star Jeff Daniels, who went on 'Piers Morgan Tonight' on CNN to give his point-of-view on the situation. The following is a sample transcript from the interview, where Piers Morgan asks Jeff Daniels about the current situation.

Jim Carrey

PIERS MORGAN TONIGHT (JUNE 22):

Piers Morgan: I've got two contemporary questions to ask you.

One for you, Jeff, is that there was a remake of "Dumb and Dumber" that's supposed to be coming out that's now apparently not. What can you tell me about that?

Jeff Daniels: What have you heard?

Piers Morgan: That Jim Carrey buggered off.

(laughter)

Jeff Daniels: Buggered off. I know this. I know that the four of us, the Farrelly Brothers, Jim and myself, would all love to do it. Especially Jim. Jim's wanted to do it for a year and a half. We've hit some bumps in the road. My hope is that while I completely agree with Jim's stance on it, that he's, you know, frustrated and throwing up his hands -- my hope is that there's a happy ending and we get to do it.

Piers Morgan: Because you did gross 250 million dollars.

Jeff Daniels: Million or billion? Yeah.

(laughter)

Jeff Daniels: It has the potential to be seen by a couple of people, let me put it that way.

Let’s hope Jeff Daniels is right and this whole situation ends on a happy note.
