The Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special Video
06 Dec 2017 By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)
Of all the things we read and watch of our favorite artists, the ones we love the most are tributes.
On December 3rd, CBS aired the 1 hour and 20 minutes special, dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of The Carol Burnett Show.
Carol Burnett is a comedian, actress, writer and singer who's known for her comedy series "The Carol Burnett Show".
Many were the artists who join in, telling stories about her. Jim Carrey was one of them as he shared the well known story of how he at the age of 10 sent a letter to her to be in her show: "Carol and I actually go way back. I was 10 years old, and I really wanted to be on The Carol Burnett Show, because I was a young, aspiring comedian, and I did about 150 voices."
Carrey sent Burnett a letter to tell her just that and to ask her if he could be a regular on the show like Tim Conway and Harvey Korman.
"Then I waited, like Jodie Foster in Contact," he said.
A reenactment of the rejection letter he received afterwards, was shown a little kid pretending to be Jim, read the letter: "Unfortunately, at this time we aren't hiring children, just grown-ups. But stay in school, study hard, and keep watching our show. Yours truly, Carol Burnett."
At the end Carol herself end up telling Jim to forget the letter and that he's hired!
Jim then jumped with happiness and hug the kid who was playing him when he was young.
Tributes to people should be done every day and we do hope there are more to come.
We at JCO will keep you updated as more news come.
