"Grinch" steals a BAFTA award
27 Feb 2001 Rick Baker and team continues to be acknowledged for "The Grinch". This time recognition comes from BAFTA. The Orange British Academy Film Awards were held on Feb. 25, 2001 at The Odeon Leicester Square in central London and "The Grinch", won in the category of Make Up/Hair (Rick Baker/Kazuhiro Tsuji/Tony G./Gal Ryan/Sylvia Nava).
Besides the already reported Oscar nods, "The Grinch" was also nominated for a Hollywood Make Up and Hairstylist Guild Award in the category of Feature Film - Special Effects Make Up, and for a Costume Designers Guild Award (Rita Ryack).
Winners will be, respectively, announced March 17 at the Century Plaza Hotel, and at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
