RODNEY'S WEB SITEPreviously, when I found out about his book, I searched for his website
I typed in his full name, didn't get anything. When I posted a few days ago, later, I typed in, rodney.com, and there was his site. And just like here, I laughed, I read his joke of the day. Ironically, it was about planes. I did not know he was musically inclined. Thanks Future for the info. Alot of people at work were talking about how great a comedian he was, and probably on the other side, still is!
Rodney Dangerfield is the reason I fell in love with Jim Carrey's comedy. Years ago, when HBO first started out, Rodney was the original host of the "Young Comedian's Special" where he show cased up and coming comics. Jim blew me away with his "Shape Shifting" impressions. From there I followed Jim to the "Duck Factory" whom he co-starred with the Cracker Jack's man (Jack Gilford). I was so thrilled to see him on TV, I was in school studying graphics arts & illustration in hopes of having my own comic strip one day. I've followed Jim to "In Living Color," I actually stood next to him at a Rolling Stones Concert during that time. I've been a constant fan since the beginning, and I owe it all to Rodney.
Rodney may have gotten "No Respect" but I give him all of mine. I nearly wet my pants with laughter in "Easy Money" when he started his "regular guy" clothing line, in "Caddyshack" when he said that the steak he was eating "still had the whip marks where the jockey kept hitting it", he scared the living hell out of me in "Natural Born Killers" as Mallory's (Juliette Lewis') incestuous dad. "I get no repect - my twin brother forgot my birthday!" R.I.P. Rodney, I know I'll miss you. I'm glad I've got your films and records to keep you alive in my heart...
awesome input carreyd away! that was so touching!
you stood next to Jim at a Rolling Stones concert? is that literal or were you making a figurative statement! please, details! details! RIP RODNEY! I think we all owe Rodney because it was no one else who introduced us to Jim but Rodney.
In rodney's afterlife.....he'll still get no respect....probably from people like deceased relatives...lol
I don't know where I read this last week but its from one of his jokes..... "I recently bought a cemetary plot and some guy told me "There goes the neighborhood" I just did a psychic reading and this is what Rodney wants me to tell all of you..... "I never felt better ...i went into the supermarket on coupon day and they handed me Wings in the checkout lane, i was expecting chicken wings but they had fluff....standing behind me, you would never guess...Dr. Vinny Goombatz....Even in the afterlife I get no respect, I got a number ....waiting to be served....." " Why didn't you help the little old lady cross the street? She needed to get to the other side?"
"Clap On. Clap off "
Actually, now that I think about it, it was a U2 concert, the Zoo TV Tour. I was with my sister and when we got to our seats there was a light tower where our seats should have been. We had "floor seats" and the usher was trying to find us replacement seats at the sold out concert. We pitched a fit that we didn't want to be put in the bleachers (it was at Dodger Stadium) so they moved us into the 10th row center. Pretty cool, eh? We were sitting amongst a bunch of celebs and rock stars, but Jim and his wife were in the row in front of us. I didn't realize it until we were walking out. My sister was trashed drunk and as we were filing out like cattle she realized the guy in front of us was Jim. At this point I could of reached his shoulder and hung on, but my sister was about to tackle him. We were (and are) huge fans of his. He could hear her yelling about how she wanted to get up next to him, I could see his wife wasn't really digging her conversation and tried to wedge him up away from us. He looked back at us and smiled, I made a gesture as if I was holding my sister back, but in reality she really would of jumped him if I hadn't held on. So, in a way, Jim owes me! ![]()
Jim's wife? Lauren Holly or Melissa Womer? or was it a girlfriend? what year was this? that's pretty cool! you should put it in JCO's Jim sightings!
I think it was around '92 or '93, definitely Melissa. It was the tour with U2, Public Enemy & Sugarcubes. My sister and I were the only ones dancing to PE and the uptight rich people were threatening to have us ejected if we didn't sit down. Can you imagine not being able to shake it at a r&b/rap band? The nerve!

Jim Carrey was one of the honary Pall bearer and had this to say during a speech he made:
"Ill never forget how kind he was to my father. I remember watching Rodney on The Ed Sullivan Show as a child, and laughing, not because I got the jokes, but because my father was in hysterics" Other Pall Bearers included Adam Sandler, Michael Bolton, Harry Basil, Bob Saget, Rob Schneider, David Permut, son Brian Roy and son-in-law David Friedman
ThankyouThanks Fava for the info.
Where was he buried? I wish I had the time to pay my respects (no pun intended) during the funeral, but I'd still like to visit his grave if there is one...
I'm sorry, but I don't know where he is buried. But I do hope Jim will be alright, as well as Mr. Dangerfield's family. It's very very sad...
