What is with People?

What is with People? This whole damn Oscar thing. I go on Message Boards and people say things like "Give Jim an Oscar so he will go back to comedy" or "I never liked Jim after he started this whole "search for a script so I can get and Oscar" thing" or even "What's with Jim and him trying to get an Oscar?" All Jim says is that it would be nice if someday he would ever get one but he is not going into drama because of an Oscar. Every time he says that no one listens they just listen to the press who exaggerate and say that he just wants an Oscar. He is doing dramas because he likes to do more than comedies and he is sticking to it because he is actually damn good at it. Someone on the Kate Winslet Board said she did not like it that Jim was in it because she thinks he is not funny (that’s cool...not everyone likes his comedy) and because he does not deserve an Oscar after every drama he does. The way she wrote it was like he was saying he deserved it or something. I agree he did not deserve an Oscar for every drama performance he does but I think the guy is really underrated and people should stop bashing him because of it.

Re: What is with People? It's like Nicolas Cage says... with the oscars they compare pears with apples. It's silly. How can you compare entirely different performances, roles and movies that have a day-night difference with eachother?

Jim is underrated.

failure isn't failure unless you give up -Jim Carrey
visit my site!soiledmypants.com

Why are people even like that? They can only complain, and complain... Can't they be happy for someone? For once? God!
I wouldn't want him to win one, cuz Oscars are so stupid, and I feel as though it's all a big corrupted and fake thing!
Anyway... As long as we love him, that's all that matters. We love him with or without the damn oscar!

Re: What is with PeopleOscar, Schmosker!! Awards, trophies... they're all about some type of official recognition. So ask yourselves; how many human beings go through their lives doing extraordinary things; achieving great accomplishments, success and goals, and never so much as end up a brief blip in the local newspaper? Official recognition via a gold statue, a framed certificate, or even a complimentary dinner for four to Denny's does not validate achievement; it simply recognizes it publically. That recognition does not invalidate all the other great achievements contributed by the rest of mankind; be it a brilliant acting performance, or decades of tireless dedication to a career, cause, or issue. So Hollywood strokes it's ego once a year with a big gala and nude statues. Ultimately, it's about how you felt after any one particular movie or performance, and how the actor(s) feel about their accomplishment.
