No Ace Ventura 3

The movie "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" was, in many ways the launch of Jim Carrey's career. Actually, it was that movie that put Jim in the map by letting everyone in the planet know that he existed.
After doing the sequel "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls", Jim became keen on not doing any sequels. So much so, that he only broke that rule 20 years later by doing "Dumb & Dumber To".
Right now, you will get to see him do a sequel again as Dr. Robotnik in the movie "Sonic the Hedgehog 2", but it seems to be another exception since when asked if there's any character of his that he would like to revisit, Jim was very clear:
"I don't have any in mind that I would like to. Most of the time when you make something that really hits with people, the sequels have a diminishing return. If you do it long enough after the fact, you're kind of imitating yourself now; you're not using your original inspiration. These [Sonic] movies were made close together, and they were like an evolution that was being planned in my own head, at least, from the get-go."
So, I guess it's pretty clear now, there's not going to be an "Ace Ventura 3". We know the character means so much to many fans and we will continue to enjoy the two movies we got with him… forever!
